YO GEORGIANS! :)

I'm in Conyers, GA.
We've got a family farm here, 8 acres, we're the second farming generation on the property. It's pretty neat to be doing projects the original owners were getting to 'one day' and leveraging all the way-more-farm-experienced buildings they built.

We raise layers and meat birds. I'm looking to build up a heritage flock.

Couple of things for you nearby folks:

1. Anyone know a processor for chickens? I can do 1-2 my self, but I'd like to get 5-10 done at once. We heard there was a place in Monroe, but they're closed now.

2. Do you know anyone who would like to start a flock? I have some Leghorns free to a good home.

Cheers,
Rebekah

What color/kind of leghorns? How old?

Hey all,
I've spent the last week in a daze. High fever, shortness of breath, etc. Possible Pigeon Breeder Lung attack, but not positive.
Then on Friday my fever broke, then the stomach issues started. 24 hours, a bottle of Pepto Bismol later, and 500 miles driven while sick.

Slept 12 hours, and feeling so much better now!

I spent Monday and Tuesday getting aviaries etc from my new building, which was to be delivered Friday. Got my truck stuck Monday night while doing this, had a VERY late night by the time hubby hauled the truck 50' with a COME ALONG and tow strap, but he did it, with me on the gas.

Thursday I tried to help move the last of the lofts that was in the way of the new building, but couldn't breathe, so wasn't too much help. He got everything ready though.
Friday we sat here, as the truck that went to pick up my new coop got stuck in the same mud, and wasn't able to move it after all.
Hoping the dry weather with the breezes will have it moveable by Tuesday, hubby's only day off this week.

I really want to move these 24 baby chicks OUTSIDE! Or at least into the first room of the coop.

Flowerbh, sorry you had a bad hatch :(
The babies I got from you a while back are GREAT, growing like little weeds, and the two Swedish Flowers are very evident. One of the others has a crest, but other than that, I have no idea what to think of it. LOL.
One looks much like daddy Beau, and one is a huge blue one. Think I got a lot of roos out of the 6, but will worry about that later.

In other news, went to get another trio of Speckled Sussex, and came home with them, plus a free RIR rooster, a pair of TINY bantams for daughter, and a day old bantam cochin for her, which has my smallest Dominique as a buddy.
Need to update my signature, or may just change it to breeds, and stop worrying about numbers :)

@feathersaloft hope you get to feeling better soon

Thank you.
I'm feeling about 90% better today.
Well enough to try to get the largest rabbit hutch cleaned out (with a mask) an see if I can fasten the heat lamp in there to keep the 24 youngest chicks outside from now on.
They are mostly feathered, and should be fine with 3 solid sides and a heat lamp I think.

Wish my building was here so I had that option :(

feathersaloft, Hope you feel better soon. I have had some stomach issues and think it's eating too much wheat. I just can't tolerate it.....but love pizza. When I don't eat a lot of wheat products, I feel great. When I eat too much, it's stomach aches and pepto Bismol time! So, I can relate!

Send a photo of the chick you are wondering about being a SW or not, and I will see if I can help with it. I did just hatch another one. Probably a boy, but hoping for a girl. BTW, I have the name of a guy who will buy chickens that are 3-6 months old (to eat). If you need to get rid of some, let me know and I will give you his contact #.

I am thinking most of my chickens have gotten their new feathers in now after their molt and they are looking good again. Maybe two more needs to feather out a little more, but I think I am going to add the timer light to the coop now that they've had a good break. Should start back laying within the next 10 days. We will see.

We were outside enjoying the beautiful weather. She told me she needed to take the "chichens" some toys

I know these two are boys.
Herman is the front one, He has a crest and a very fluffy neck, almost a mane.
Bo-Bo is the one in the back, our little Beau Junior.

Here are the SF and the questionable one

First two are questionable. no crest.

Then the probables:
