So maybe a still air one? I was trying to come up with something that didn't cost so much. Some of the bigger brand heat items are pricey and the hubs said no to purchasing one. I thought if it was put at one end of the brooder with the back and side closed off it may cycle so that it didn't stay on so much. Hmm...Couldn't hurt to try but I wouldn't think the forced air part would work well. But also, would the element ever get a break with it being open to air? I wouldn't think much of one..
Why not try one of the heating pad ideas? You make a little "cave" by covering a wire form with a heating pad, and put bedding over top. There's a link somewhere here on BYC.So maybe a still air one?
