YO GEORGIANS! :)

Thanks..I can only say its because I have the cabinet incubator. I don't think they would have turned out as well otherwise.

It does seem to help cover for a lot of insults to the eggs..

Yep ... eggs almost can't help but hatch in the cabinet.

Any advice on how to treat a coyote bite wound on a rooster?
Pregnancy brain got the better of me and I forgot to lock up my flock last night. At 4 am I woke up to the worst noise ever. I chased them off, but They got all of my chickens and a duck. Kids and I set out at 7 am to find and bury what was left so they're not attracted back, and I actually found my rooster, Cluck Norris (of coarse he'd fight off coyotes!) I've got him on lockdown until he settles down, but from what I can see he just has some minor wounds on his back, I just don't want infection to set in. Thanks.
Sorry to hear this. If you're close enough, I'd be glad to give you some layers or I've got chicks hatching next weekend.

Congrats Eric...now let's hope you got a little girl in those 3.

We know better! I am lucky, but not that lucky!

My cousin talked me into ordering the eggs and said he would keep them at his house. He has had 3 weeks and has a few more to work on his coop but hasn't even started and it doesn't seem to be a priority. We all know they will be grown in the blink of an eye. Bet I don't do that again!

Nice! What's your homemade bator made from?
I made it from hurricane shutters, foil lined insulating board, fans, lights and a control relay that will adjust to 0.1°. It's like a horizontal cabinet that will hold 164 eggs. I bought a hova bator genesis for a back up because it will run on a battery in case of a power outage.

Have you ever let a broody hatch eggs? I had one that hatched 6 and I found her off her eggs in another nest box several times and her eggs were cold to the touch. I put her back on her eggs and waited it out. I moved her to a pen in the coop floor and she hatched all 6 on the 21st day within 2 hours.

Taught me more than one lesson, half my hens tried to go broody so I got her and the chicks out of the coop and locked 4 other hens in a horse stall for 3 days. Still don't have them all laying yet.

I have let one broody hatch eggs. My Mama Brahma.. She went broody last year and appeared to be serious, which she was. Her little friend also pretended to be broody along with her but would best hop as you described. I only gave her the duds, lol.
