YO GEORGIANS! :)

Carcar, I sold a Lavender Ameraucana rooster to a guy. They guy does not want him....says he's mean, and he wants one like Beau, our Brahma, because Beau is the sweetest thing. Do you have any Brahma roos for sale?

Does anyone have any interest in buying my friends Lavender Ameraucana! He is beautiful!
I have Brahama roos that I got from CarCar, the ones she hatched for me so they are now old enough to tell apart, I can post pics of them. if they are interested, and would they be interested in a swap?

@carcar80 How old does that make the bramahas I got from you? I'm bad about keeping track of age.

Oh gosh I have no idea. I had so many hatches of them I couldn't look back and pinpoint one specific one

Is anyone interested in lavender or blue Ameraucana eggs for the egg swap?
How about RIR?

Just checking so I know if I need to start labeling/dating them until Saturday.
Yep, lavender

I'd like both, but not able to go to the swap! Do you need another LA roo? Friend is trying to rehome his.
If your friend wants to swap roos then I can pick up eggs from you, maybe meet up at Biguns BBQ
yeah mine will spread her wings, duck her head down and flat out GROWL at me just for raising the lid to check on her. She really got ticked at me last night when I took the eggs out for ten day candling, One was clear, the other 5 looked good. I'm thinking I may just put her and those five in with the rest of the AMs and let her raise them, I was planning on growing some out to sell, I might ease some of these others in with her and them and see if I can sneak it past her.

I actually thought about taking the 11 eggs I have in the incubator to her to sit on and hatch, and put the ones she's sitting on in the incubator. Let her be my 'hatching point' and then put eggs back under her after the hatch. Wonder how that would work out

Let me know how that works, I have wondered that myself.

Silver Hill is letting me pick up English over the American buff eggs. To bring to the cookout.

just to clarify something, when they say rotate, they don't mean turn the egg over in the carton, it means set one end of the carton up on a book or something, then at least three times a day, swap which end of the carton is elevated.

This keeps the insides from sticking to one place in the shell. It's why birds roll the eggs when they sit on them, if you watch any of the Berry College Eagle cams, when they were sitting on the eggs, you'd see them several times a day reach under with their beaks and roll the eggs around  :)

@katiedarling
 - either/or would be fine, I just want to mix up the brown eggs I'm getting, or more EE's would be ok with me too

Cool. I'm about to head back out to check for more eggs. Somebody was still in the nest box when I collected the ones earlier. I'll turn Stanley loose with the ladies for a couple of hours, then tomorrow I'll let James have a go. Is it true that they can stay fertilized for up to a week after or do I need to set him loose on them more rhan that? They're pretty beat up with their bald spots on their wings. :( Poor girls. I can't wAit for the newbies we're getting to be old enough for full integration.I hope that takes the heat off of them a bit. Right now he's the annoying, needy boyfriend that demands constant attention. They're over it. Rose is at the point where she submits & doesn't even bother getting back up when he's done. Makes me sad.

I bought some hen saddles for my girls, well 2 are wearing them since they seem to be the favorites, and yes a hen can stay fertile for 2 to 3 weeks after being with a rooster.

Yes! I got those, too! Maybe from the same place. I think you were the one who told me where to get them. They've been wearing them since and so far, only their wings are bald. Stanley is huge & his spurs are too. Poor little Marans is the smallest, so the saddle doesn't protect much. He'll probably crush her one day. The giant EE hen's saddle feathers are also messed up. She's so hyper that the darn thing is always flipped up. Not covering a thing, no matter how many times I manage to fix it.

Speaking of broodies, my white showgirl just hatched a BO, a Black Swedish, and a Pekin and we finally have her back to normal just waiting on the eggs again. The black showgirl has been broody for almost a month now so i finally gave her two duck eggs so she is due to have babies in another week or two. Then three or four days ago my cochin who just recovered from an attack and is now one eye lighter is kicking the black showgirl out of the nesting box and stealing the two duck eggs so it looks like i will be picking up two or three eggs for her to hatch now also.

Movie review time.... Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I wasn't impressed. I didn't hate it but it is not worthy of repeated viewing like the first 3 original movies. Very much like the new 3. I didn't regret watching them but I have never watched them a second time.
I watched 30 minutes of it with my wife the other day. Both of us went to sleep without finishing it and now i continue the tradition of never seeing an entire Star Wars movie ever.
