I now have six out of nine broody d'Uccle hens.

Six! Out of NINE!!!

When I discovered the latest one yesterday, I was ready to sell them all. The whole flock. I want Cochins anyway (yes I know they're broody too), and that would give me the space without having to build.

But then I walked out to the Barred Rock run and had TWO eggs, which means a new girl laid!!

So then I felt a little better. For now. Still considering it though.

All my years with Bantam Cochins I only had certain ones go broody every year. Never had two hens in one group go broody and that goes for all colors. One would go and the rest would keep donating their eggs. HAHA! I would have to take the broody out or she would be sitting on a mound of eggs. I told you, once you get bantam cochins, you will want more and in every color.

I have a turkey that has gone broody ... in one of the chicken nests. Almost her entire back half sticks out. Silly girl.

I went to 5 broodies the one was just seeing if she wanted to be a mom, but got bored and now another hen has taken her spot, Eggs hurry up and hatch
