YO GEORGIANS! :)

My girls are just about finished hatching, I'm glad the moms don't mind being together, oh the one hen that didn't want to sit and wait for the eggs hatch has now taken to helping this mom with all her babies. I'd be on the 6 o'clock news if I had all these kids to look after

the top pic has the helper off on the right
That is a lot of chicks! How many???

A neighbors dog.
One of hen disappear a while back then a few min later the dog showed up. I know dogs will take chickens back home. I noticed that dogs always go for the rooster first.

Interesting possibility. We have 1 neighbor dog who hangs out on our property quite a bit, but she is good with the chickens. I've never seen any others, but there are coyotes around. I wonder if a coyote would do the same thing? Its also possible another dog showed up.

thanks.

not a good morning here at all from one aspect. When my last batch of eggs hatched, I turned off the bator and cleaned it out. This morning I turned the incubator back on, set a small water tray in it, letting it warm up to put a dozen OE eggs and the dozen eggs from the meet saturday. So I fixed another cup of coffee and came sat back down since it's raining out and I can't go do much outside, and started smelling something.....

apparently the controller went bad, never shut off the heat element and it just about caught on fire. Showed 118* on the control AND on the thermometer that was inside is pegged. Thank you Lord that it rained this morning and I was inside. it got hot enough inside to melt the plastic trays in the egg turner

and it did so well on the last hatch too......

21 babies glad she took them, I had them split between her and another hen but the other hen figured out they were not hers and was pecking them so I took them away and gave them to her, the other hen has her own babies, 1 guess that is all she figured she could handle, lol, this hen the one with all the babies hatched 6 of her own,the others came from the bator and are about a week older than her chicks, but she likes being a mom, you should see them all scramble for wing coverage when she calls them and she usually ends up with 2 to3 sitting on her back.
