YO GEORGIANS! :)

Thank you. I'm using my new cabinet. I did start spraying lightly with warm water when I open it. That helped the last two I think. Still quite a few pips.
if you need to quickly bump humidity, a wet kitchen sponge will do the trick!

as for needing another fan, I wondered the same thing in mine, (before the control unit went bonkers and melted the thing) I tied a small piece of tissue paper hanging from each of the trays, and realized I was getting a lot more air flow than I originally thought. Maybe you might want to move the control sensor down a shelf? I haven't seen the inside of your cabinet, so I can't say, but it seems to me that putting the heating element in the top is backwards as heat naturally rises....

and yes, definitely put a back on the trays! I'll suggest simple window screen or 1/4" hardware cloth.

Oh, and I was at DDS getting my DL renewed when my phone rang today.

Welcome!

And GAMjr thinks you don't love her ... she still has no rooster.

LOVE it!!

Thanks ... I'll be watching for that info

I do not do a strict lock-down but I also use a cabinet and they recover so quickly that it isn't a big deal.  I may occasionally use a spray bottle on hatching eggs if I have to open the incubator ... depends on the eggs and the humidity.
can we get some inside pics of that masterpiece

Maybe I'm not going to work at the auction after all. I just effed up big time. I went out to get in the truck, keys are in ignition. SINCE SATURDAY! that battery is so beyond dead there's no way it's gonna charge. I'm supposed to be in Sandy Springs, at 4 pm. I've got it hooked up to a charger but that battery is probably so old.  :he :hit
where is the auction you go to

Sold two runner ducks today. 5 more to go. Just posted my swap chicks on Craigslist. I will be keeping some of those for me! Yay! Just have to figure out which ones are girls!

Question about the RIR chicks from the swap. Some are darker red than others. Is this a boy/girl thing or just different coloring? Can I tell boys from girls somehow. One article I read said girls will have a darker line running down the back of their heads, but there is nothing like that on these.

I'm thinking since these are production type RIR instead of heritage they are harder to sex.
I haven't been able to tell, but I sold all I've hatched except the last two hatches.

I'm raising the 30 from last two hatched and may sell the hens at pol.

It's at Red Baron Antiques in Sandy Springs. Their big auction is in June(18 & 19 this yr). This one is one of their smaller ones that they do 2-3x a year.
I did end up making it. DH conceded and let me drop him off at work(it was on the way, after all) and take the car. But, now I have to find something to do until 2am when his tour is over. shouldn't be too hard, though.
