YO GEORGIANS! :)

Confirmed today that the turkey poults are fine to come in. There is no halt on any birds coming in ... just asking folks to be smart/cautious about it. I repeated it back to them and was told that is correct. As long as normal rules are followed. They are just asking folks to take extra steps in an effort to try to protect Georgia's birds.

Any estimates (or experience) as to how long bands like this tend to last?
Are we looking at a month or two or are we looking at not being able to sell until next year?

does this ban on sales include eating eggs? anyone asked that question or is it irrelevant?

Cooking kills the AI virus, it should be irrelevant. Practice biosecurity with customers coming on to your property. Maybe be use any change as a chance to educate folks on poultry health and ease fears if they have heard about AI in the news. You may want to call to double check.

Didn't egg prices soar in 2015 with that round of AI and commercial flock losses?

ahhh, thanks! I'm not overly concerned, I only have 2 customers. They buy all my eggs, but there's only 2 of em, LOL

and, I know right where Blairsville is, we've managed to wonder our way around up there a lot through the years. We'll be in Blue Ridge April 7 with the grand daughter riding the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway

Blooms should be busting out all over for a pretty ride on the train, not to mention the drive up. Is it a trip with the Easter Bunny?

Come visit us. We are just a little south east of there!

Sold 12 dozen eating eggs today. Have 4 more dozen going out tomorrow. Also sold a lady 4 chicks for $46!!! She wanted the Chocolate Orpingtons. I sold her 2 for $20 each and 2 mixes for $3 each! Yay!

I did have a lady who wanted chicks, but is now scared to buy any for this year. So, I still have lots of chicks to sell.

I just heard from someone else on a farm group I'm a apart of (Outlaw Farm and Garden) that private sales are halted, according to the USDA. Funny how I called the Dept of Ag and get a different response than what the USDA says. :p
