Just posting to say that I didn't want to bore everyone with my neuroses about my first hatch HERE, but I did start another thread because I will need therapy by the time I'm done obsessing over this. I have a hatch I'm managing at our preschool (21 eggs) and one I'm doing at home (17 eggs) and managing this many potential lives is giving me the shakes!!!

I think that's why we are all here for support I know my first time was hectic so was my second and so will my 3rd and so will every hatch after that but in numbers we find support to help each other out and to find answers to any and all questions no matter how wierd you might think it is the people here will answer it with a smile because they know that not to ask a question is not learning so learn away!!

Thank you!! I'm so excited about every aspect of this adventure! Now...gotta get my husband to do his part and get the coop built!!!
 
I started last year with no coop built and had bought 15 birds from a hatchery they hadn't got here yet next thing I have 65 chicks from TSC and have to scramble to build everything so it's an adventure and it's so fun too and you haven't got to the best part the all night maternity ward sessions that last about 2-3 days you try to be there each time a little head pops out, you get excited the first pip of the shell you have to restrain yourself from trying to help then finally you have a zip then you worry more because you see it breathing in the shell and you know it will be soon but it seems like forever before it pops out. And they are hardy I had a late hatcher and the inside of the egg was colored wrong I feared the worse it was zipped but not going any further so I intervined.
I gently piped the top of the shell off and layed it back in the incubator and was watching tv next thing I hear is a loud bang against the side of the incubator! It was the last chick popping out and flying against the side from the middle of the incubator I freaked out!! Thought it had hurt its self but it's running around with its siblings and doing great!!
 
I would love to do a hatch, but I'm going to live vicariously through ya'll because as bad as my anxiety and ocd has been trying to get my chickens settled...i would probably have a nervous breakdown...LOL
 
You will experiance something that you will enjoy for life it is a personal accomplishment when you see the first pip I woke up my wife and she got mad because she didn't see a chick so in about 30 minutes later I woke her up again she grumbled and looked and then went back to bed I'm sitting all night for the next three nights watching everything happening!
 
Just picked up the last of the shipped eggs and have unpacked them to rest overnight. Will set them tomorrow morning! I am so excited I can't stand it!! Thanks for all the support! And know I may be calling on people to take birds because these generous egg folks have sent sooooo many extras to me!!
