YO GEORGIANS! :)

Question...When adding to an flock how do you manage the different food requirements for the different ages? I have a couple EE that will need to go on layer food while the latest additions will need chick food. Do I set out both types, will they go for the type the need?
How far apart are they in age? I keep my youner birds separate until they are old enough to eat layer food. Grown birds also can pick on the smaller young birds. If the young ones are old enough and you have to put them together, I would feed them a grower or chick food.

I have two 13wk EE and seven assorted 7wk olds in together right now. I was totally amazed at how well that transition went. I have four more due in either this week or the next (one barred rock & two Welsummer hens with one Welsummer Roo).

I have 2 groups n they are 3 mos apart in age so I kept mine on chick starter til they all caught up in age n all were laying at the same time. I just supplemented the older gals with extra protein like meat scraps n stuff. They are fine and lay everyday so it musta worked lol. Hope that helps :)
