YO GEORGIANS! :)

Hey guys, does anyone have quick info on whether you can use permethrin on the ground around new chicks? For fire ants.. I have a sneaking suspicion that's why I found a dead chick just now

you'll pass, because they don't let anyone NOT pass. Pay attention during the 'lecture' and answer as many of the questions on the test during the lecture as you can. When I went, it was open book, and you could even help or get help the person next to you. Then you get a 'partner' and you go candle a few dozen eggs. One of you will candle half of them, and you both write down what the 'candler' thinks it is, then you switch. You can discuss it, but ultimately the person who's doing the 'candling' for that egg has final say. I'd say good luck, but you really don't need it, LOL

ok, so here's why I crossed my ameraucana rooster and the welsummer hens. Dark green eggs with brown spots

I've got one hen that lays a similar egg. Mother was as BCMarans that somehow got crossed with an EE roo, so she lays blue eggs. The father was a BCM. So her eggs are a nice olive color. Sometimes spots, sometime not.
So this year I put a couple of BCM pullets in with the EE roo that carries the blue egg gene. Should be interesting to see how those come out.
And, if anyone's interested, I can bring some hatching eggs to the cookout for swapping.
