Ok so i talked to a lady that has a feed store in town she is the one who gives the high school their meet chickens for the FFA or whatever, and the kids have to do the processing, which she helps with. So I was asking her which chickens she used with that particular project, and some general questions about meat chickens. They are jumbo cornish x, and with several customers, she get an order for everyone at once, so that they are ready at the same time, and then everyone gets together to process the chickens, using her equipment, and they just make a day of it. So I am going to do this once, to see if I like it, and see how much we really need. But not until fall. we try to work around the weather, not to hot or cold, so one batch in the fall, one in the spring.
On another note, the original reason I called her was to ask which hatchery she used when ordering her chicks in the spring to sell. She uses McMurray, she asked why i wanted to know and I gave her the rundown of my special needs chickens, since they were all bought from her! ...I wasnt complaining per se, just giving feedback, she couldn't believe how many Ive had...oh well.
Well now since Ive worked outside all day on the coop and got sick from the heat, im going to head to bed....stay cool everyone!
