YO GEORGIANS! :)

OMG tell me again why I like chickens. Dirty smelly things having to clean 5 inches of.littet out of the coop get it n the compost pile sweeting like crazy poring down rain. Spreading down lime and coop fresh managing flys. Refreshing nest boxes.oy vey!. Oh yeah.. Then they come and jump on my lap look for treats cluck softly because they feel better and look forward to spending time with me. I knew there had to be a reason for all that work.

I wanted to make one more correction regarding Robert Earl's second video. Corn does NOT contain gluten. When Earl described a feed he was buying in San Angelo, TX that did not use a binder such as clay and instead used the heated gluten in corn as a binder, he's wrong. Maybe something else in the feed is causing the crumbles to stick together when they're extruded, but there is no such thing as corn gluten, so it cannot be that.

What's y'all's opinion of white washing the wood walls inside the new coop. I figured paint wouldn't be healthy but really didn't know. Just don't want it to be so dark in there...opinions , suggestions??

Fresh paint is a good thing, especially if you use a high-gloss paint that is easy to clean. Just turn on the fan and let it air out a few days before putting out the welcome mat.

I have three LG 9300 styro incubators with egg turners and retrofitted with pancake fans running right now. All three are set to control the temp to 99.5ºF; however, one of them is topping out at 99.1ºF instead of 99.5ºF. Grrrr... The temp is close enough to the target temp that I think I will just leave it alone, but if it drops any further, I'll have to replace it, or at least the heating element which is a cheap coil of wire. That cabinet incubator that Lisa wants is looking better and better all the time.
