Man! My neighbors are tinkers like me! Maybe I can find something! I'm gonna turn a old crib into a brooder box tonight! I use ALL kind of stuff to rehab different orphan animals. So we will see what comes up!

It was the Ellijay TSC. I went to Blue Ridge and they didn't have any, they had some pretty bantams though. They still had 4 or 5 of the ones, like I got, in Ellijay. They will probably still have them tomorrow. They are straight run, but only $1.99 each.
I know a lady with beautiful chicks in ellijay!

I will come April. Getting a load of Cornish to split with @GAMarans , then some Novogen brown layers. Then I'll be hatching quail and duck. Gonna be a busy spring.
Sounds like it.

That reminds me of a question. Do ducks need a big pool to mate? I put almost 20 duck eggs in my incubator and only 2 developed. They have a kiddie pool. They're still under a year old, so I'm also wondering if my Drake is just too immature still.

My ducks mate anywhere....they like the lake, but they do it anywhere! The main reason ducks need water is so they can clean out their nostrils. As ducks shove under the dirt looking for bugs and stuff, the dirt goes up their noses. They then run to the water and take in a mouth full and then snort all the dirt from their noses! That's why their water is always so yucky! Of course, they love to swim and play in water and they preen and eat and love it, but they don't need it to mate.
A drake should be interested in mating around 4 -5 months old!

I also didn't have a good hatch with my ducks (4 out of 12). I did some research and found that I shouldn't use a turner. The article said the eggs are too big and the top of the eggs get too hot. That you should lay them down and hand turn them. This article also said that you should let them cool every 4-5 days for about 10 minutes. The humidity should be higher....about 55% until lockdown and then jump it to 75%. I think I may try this and see what happens.
