YO GEORGIANS! :)

Hey all! I hope everyone is staying safe. Currently on week 3 of lockdown with my family, and so far so good. I am currently *trying* to hatch Serama eggs. Ordered 9 and the breeder sent 18! 13 of them made it to day 19, currently 12 in the bator. Today is day 21, so I've been checking on them every 30 minutes. I think I'm driving my husband crazy! No pips yet, and honestly with them being shipped eggs, and Seramas, I don't really have high hopes. But, who knows! It's turned into a homeschooling Ag/biology class for my kids.

So I found this place that sells keets and guineafowl hatching eggs. I’m so tempted to buy some. For a dozen it’s just shy of $40 shipping included. I’m debating on buying some mostly because I lost all my females and I want a chance to get at least one female instead of getting 5 live keets for the same price. Plus who doesn’t love hatch-a-longs. Hmm...what to do what to do.

This is their website, they’re in Thomaston, GA.

It's over my 2 hour road trip limit I set for myself to buy hatching eggs...but very tempting! lol

Haha. It’s about a 3-4 hr roundtrip for me but my husband doesn’t want to make the trip. I wonder if they send extras when they get shipped but not if the customer picks them up. I mean I still have time to convince my husband, but I think it will come down to if they keep extending this quarantine. Cuz if it gets lifted I wouldn’t mind a road trip 😂

Wow some of us are close together.. I’m over here in Heard county close to Carrollton.

We drove to Hiram from Carrollton to get the last 4 of our babies lol. Quarantine be damned hehe. I’m sitting here watching them eat their food at the moment. Need to be working on the coop but it is as you all know a wet nasty day..

Hiya! What kind of chickens do you have?
We have 2 Heritage Rhode Island Reds, 3 lavender orps, and 4 speckled Sussex.

OrIginal plans were to have 6 RIRs, and some Speckled Sussex. The place we found the RiRs at said over the phone he had 8 pullets, we get there and he only had 2, that the guy we passed on the way in bought the others. Even after I told him over the phone I was 23 minutes away and getting in the truck to come get them. He has the lavender orps, also and my daughter begged and she won lol. Couldn’t find any more, and wife like the SS, so when she called TSC in Carrollton thy said call Hiram and so it happened..

Oh nice. Lavender Orpingtons are a beauty.

I have some Australorps, Red Sex Links, White Leghorn and Olive Eggers. I also have some Easter Egger pullets, but I think it’s 4 instead of the 5 I had original thought.

I had wanted more variety before this craziness happened, but now I feel like I may have to wait, not sure yet. But I wanted some Naked Necks, Delawares and Buff Orpingtons. I also wanted some Black Jersey Giants because I thought my Australorps were BJG but two years after getting them I confirmed that wasn’t the case. But what can you expect from TSC 😂

I'm finishing out the hatches that I currently have set in my incubators and then I don't plan on filling them again until this mess passes. As sad as that is...

Well, other than the fact that I may be trading some of these chicks I'm hatching now for some peacock eggs, lol...so not completely screeching to a halt but it sure feels like it when you want to fill 4 incubators with eggs. lol
