YO GEORGIANS! :)

How old would that be? Last hens we got were an auto sex breed, so this is all new...

That depends on the breed and how good you are at determining gender. I can usually start to pick them out at about 5 weeks almost always by 8 weeks but if you wait until they're about 12 weeks it's pretty undeniable.

Located in Acworth. I'm wanting to add 3 geese to my flock. I have been thinking about rdering from Cackle Hatchery, but I am wondering if anyone knows of a local farm or hatchery that might have geese. I think I've decided on Toulouse.
Thank you

How much do adult ducks go for in GA? I’m wanting to buy two. But the catch is, they’re for my dogs. I don’t eat duck so I don’t raise ducks. I’m just wondering if it would be worth it to raise a couple ducks from ducklings or if it’s roughly the same price as buying adult ones.

I know on fb I see some people giving away males they don’t want but they ask for happy homes not freezer camp and I respect their wishes so I don’t pursue.

I’m near Albany GA so if you have any within 45 mins I would love to get some.

I sold my adult drakes for 5-10 each. It likely is a lot cheaper to buy adults, depending on price, than ducklings. I have a drake I’m trying to rehome, but you are a bit too far.

Thanks for the information. I’ll post an ISO ad one of these days on fb. I’m sure more people will have some available around summer since everyone will have gotten ducklings and their share of drakes. It does suck you’re so far away. That seems to be the norm with me being in south GA 😂

Just wanted to stop in and say hello. It‘s been a little while but chicken wise all is good.. my flock is still going well, we lost a few over the last 6/7 months. 1 was our fault, we were expanding the run area, and the electric fence was offline for a few days. Our little injured girl (pretty sure she had a Injured/broke leg) didn’t make the trip up the ramp to the coop one evening, and something got into the area and ate her. We had a weird run of neurological issue on our new pullets we bought at 10/11 weeks they would act like the left right side of the body wouldn’t work, vet test came back negative for anything major and vet was stumped on what it was, so we ended up culling 3 girls just to not let them suffer. I ended up with a few to many roosters, so I thinned that part of the flock down form 4 to 2. But over all still a good flock 13 birds (2 roosters). We are going to add a few more laying hens in this spring to get back to the original number of girly’s.

edit: I failed to mention the ones with issues were TSC wonder chicks, in sale @75% off end of the season. They were never very smart to begin with. Had to save a few from drowning themselves a couple times.

if @hysop remembers the early pictures of my flock and maybe a few other of you in here also. Here is a pic yesterday when they all decided the porch was there hang out.. sorry about the muddy paw prints on the door, doggy was trying to tell us the girls were on the porch.
