YO GEORGIANS! :)

So I candled the remaining egg in the bator last night. Out of 16 eggs that went into lock down, I have 7 hatched but one is having issues staying on its feet. That one I had to assist because it pipped in the wrong place and was stuck. I pulled 3 that had obviously quit right around lock down. Of the 5 left only one is showing movement. Ugh!

I want to buy 2-3 pullets EE or a chocolate layer breed. I also want 3 silkie chicks! My kiddos are begging for silkies for pets! Any suggestions around Henry/Butts/Lamar/Spalding co's or down toward Macon?

Welcome to BYC. This is a very helpful, entertaining group here. There is a person in Macon that has some silkies etc. I see them posting on here occasionally and I believe on Craigs list.

Just posting here since it's local, if not OK just let me know. We have a truck for sale, '01 Ford Ranger, low mileage.

PM for more info if you or someone you know is interested and I can give CL link there.

Maybe not *directly* chicken related, but I have transported chickens *in* it and it worked out great!

I'm way behind on posts so I hope no one else has said this first. As far as I know the reason for these "where are you" threads is for us to "chat" off topic. Anything related to YOU is acceptable in my book. :)

a friend of mine is hatching BA S this spring. we are in cornelia.
I'm looking for hatching eggs. I like to have my broody hens hatch all my chicks and I am needing a BA roo this year. I'm looking ahead for anyone that has some heritage stock or long time BA breeders for getting hatching eggs. If it's at all possible locally. It's on my wish list.

So sorry I haven't been on lately! I've just been so preoccupied with my hen with the infected prolapse! Anyway, here's the update: After I noticed her vent Thursday and removed the mass, I did some research. Not satisfied with really anything I found,I winged it. Friday marked the start of her baths and honey. Of course these first two days I was gentle, now I'm wishing I hadn't been. I gave her a bath and let her soak (she loved it). Cleaning most of the new poop off, I slowly worked my finger into her vent and helped her perform a bowel movement (success). After "cleaning" her vent, I coated it with honey and put her back. I lowered her food rations and gave her plenty of fresh water. Yesterday she looked a lot better, however the mass of feces was back. This time I had to get rough, well tougher than I had been. I started her a warm bath and mixed in some antibacterial soap and hydrogine peroxide to her 5 gallon bath. I put her in and let her soak, rubbing her vent to loosen the mass. After I got what I could I started another bath, the water in the first one was brown. I repeated the same mixing steps and got to work. I started scrubbing her vent, hard, freeing all the infected tissue and the dead tissue. No she didn't like it but she laid down on her side perfectly for me. Yes she did bleed, tearing loose all of the bad flesh and scabs, it was bound to happen. Now the second bath was dirty, so begins another bath. She stood in place while it ran (just soap and water this time). I came back and found she had popped all her own!!!!! Thank god for chicken sh**!! I pushed her vent back in and let her soak nice a long. By this point I knew she hadn't been laying for awhile.. So she got extra food and a slice of bread. I added electrolytes in her water and then left her to sleep.
