Hey Melanie! Welcome!

We're just up the road in Homer/Commerce area!!

I hope yall enjoy the wonderful weather this weekend!!! Its supposed to get 80ish up here, and I plan on gettin LOTS done tomorrow!!! Hafta finish the hatcher, get all the feeding/watering chores done, prep pastures and barnyard/workin chutes, set eggs for the Easter Hatch. Sunday will be spent moving cows... probably 10 loads or so, up from the winter pasture. That'll be exhausting! That'll put us at over 100+ cows and calves up here

Ooo, do you still have the pattern? I want to harness train a chicken or two, just to walk it around (and maybe take it to Victorian Christmas) We usually take the goat and the dog. Never seen a chicken there, or another goat.
I've been looking at diapers/harnesses and want to make them, so I can have a bunch of colors, and sizes!

Mom thinks I'm crazy.

I say whats wrong with that? you are

Yes, I still have the pattern somewhere. The big thing for me is balancing the length from breast to vent and neck to back. That part varies. Now I need to make some Serama size for the pair that has free run of the house! Those bombs are tiny, but they add up, LOL!

Ugh. This always happens to me. It took me forever to get down 75 this morning. When I realized I'd only catch the last of the show, I turned around. So I went to the feed store and Lowes. It's a nice day to build coops. And hubby cut me off of any more spending for awhile...

He's a wonderful man, blessed with more sense than I, LOL!

I had such a great time at the Southeastern Georgia Poultry Club Show!

It was the first show I have been to, so wasn't sure what to expect, but people were so nice and were too happy to take the time and answer all my questions. I wonder if there is such thing as chicken information overload. I even took notes!- Ok that part is 'cause I"m at the age if I dont right it down...

I tried not to buy anything, I swear!! I mean, I REALLY, REALLY tried. I told myself "No"- just here to look, watch, learn- I left my money in the truck, I sidestepped all the chickens for sale and went right inside to the show where I sidestepped all the cages, feeders, nest boxes, etc. I noticed the stuff, but I sidestepped it. I didn't know anyone, so I didn't have to talk to anybody wich was fine I just wanted to see the chickens!

Leaving my emotions at the door, I figured I would Logically look at all the chickens methodically, left side of the building to right and take my time going down each isle. My Plan was working out just great when all of a sudden I started down the 3rd isle. BAM! and got hit with the most beautiful Mille fleur D'uccles.

Instantly my heart started racing, I broke out in a cold sweat, I reached in my pockets, no money!- I tried to call my chicken anonymous sponsor ( My husband) so he could remind me the perils of bringing home something- wich he said in no uncertain terms that we didnt 'need' anymore chickens. I got hold of myself and walked away. Phew.. that was close! I made my way through the rest of the chickens and as I made my way back for one last parting glance at the Mille Fleurs.. Mary found me. Mary who owned some of said Mille Fleurs. She didn't have any with her for sale, but she knew someone who did... Mary who is an enabler, an empowerer, a chicken pusher. Mary who said, I could come live with her if My husband kicked me and the chickens out... So, I shook my head and did what any self respecting person would do in that situation.

I bought a pair!

Well, I'm back to chores again, milking goat time...Best luck on the hatch!!! You know I can fill your incubator anytime you like and you're welcome to pick up at the farm, making it an even better hatch experience as well!
