YO GEORGIANS! :)

You should call the GA Department of Agriculture...Their phone number and information can be found on the State of GA website....You will also need a business license, pay sales taxes, etc. etc.and report as income as well. Lots of details...I leave that to the hubster!

I remembered last night, they don't work well on rumpless and bumpless birds. Nothing for the pouch to hang off of. There might be a mod, but I haven't tried it.

The question about selling eggs: I'd like to know what the rules are for selling pickled eggs. Anyone know?

PTL we have power. checked crops and structure. okay. Electric fence out. No loss of animals! Glad of that.

Neighbors lost structures, animals, some crops, large trees upending...More reports. We were spared this storm, in 2008 not as well. Praying for your safety at this time!

We lost power, too, last night. But only for a hour. It came back on about 1am. I have 9 week old chicks in a brooder in the living room. They huddled together and are just fine even though the lamp kept going out even with the power on. I also have 5 three week old chicks that just got moved to a brooder cage in the garage yesterday. They didn't seem to mind being cool and are just fine this morning. Their lamp is more stable, so I'll probablly switch them today.

Praying for those with storm damage. We had just enlarged our coop and moved chicks out of the outside brooder to their own side of the coop separated from the big girls and boys. We put tarps up to keep the rain off.. chickens weathered fine. I have chicks in the house and we lost power..hoping the eggs in the incubators didn't suffer or the 10 on lockdown... We were up all night checking on animals.

Our rabbits weren't so lucky. Although no loss of life, three hutches were overturned - affecting 4 different rabbits. Luckily my mommy and her 5 babies were in a hutch that stayed upright. Hubby thinks we had some tornado force winds..

All and all.. happy to see the sun shining today.

It's been quite a while since I've logged in< But I am still a chicken lover! I have read just about this whole thread and figured I'd add that I'm from the Colquitt County area. I'm right where Thomas, Colquitt, and Mitchell counties all meet. I'd like to meet up with anyone from around here and maybe do some trading. I'm not exactly sure what all breeds I have. I know I have 1 frizzle rooster, 2 Buff Orpingtons hens, 1 Buff Orpington rooster, 1 Road Island Red hen. I have a black hen and 2 white hens, not sure what these girls are. I have a few more that are mixed breeds and my soon to be hubby has a 2 Serama hens and one rooster. We also have 5 little babies that are just over a week old. I am more interested in trading eggs than birds. Please message me if you are pretty close and are interested.

Oh shelly, I'm so sorry for the problems in your bunny area..I so hope and pray that they will recover and be well again. . It was a fierce storm, our house literally shook. I will pray over the safety of your little baby chick and the chicks to be. I wish I could give you a great big hug my friend!
