YO GEORGIANS! :)

Are you SURE the "red pullets" are BO? I assumed they were sex links. If they are BO, I may have to go grab some... But I don't really need six.

I called the Canton - Hickory Flat location and they have the same - light brahmas, black australorps, red pullets, and cornish rock. I was considering light brahmas at one point... TOO MANY CHICKENS! What is wrong with me? I'm going to be overrun! Where will I put them all? LOL

I need to pick up chick starter though... LOL 6 doesn't sound like a lot until you consider that I may have 60 or so over the next two weeks, before buying any at TSC!

They actually put a little sticker on it that said Buff Orpington, even though they are priced as "Red Pullets". I asked the girl if that's the breed of pullet they got and she said yep. They put that there because everyone kept asking.

But keep in mind that this is McDonough, GA. I'm not sure if you want to drive that far for them.

I will be cross in black and Lav AMs

The first set of offspring will be all black. But cross that offspring back to a Lav for 50/50 in the next generation.

If you cross the offspring with each other, you get 75% black, 25% lav. So I'd just take a baby and cross it back to mommy or daddy (whoever is lavender).

So... um... does anyone happen to know... how many goose eggs fit in an LG incubator? By chance? Maybe? I mean, just theoretically. You know?

Hmmm. I have two stores locally saying they have "red pullets." I think I'll just show some restraint and avoid buying anymore chicks right now LOL Maybe I'll buy a dozen Delaware eggs after I get this batch hatched. Must. Show. Restraint.

I THINK forty-some-odd. But that depends on size.

That doesn't sound right. It holds 41 chicken eggs when you use the turner. And of course goose eggs are much bigger, although there is no turner involved.

I guess I'll find out the hard way. Turns out the lady who called me about goose eggs back in January (eggs I had paid for LAST spring) is almost ready to send them. She has 3 collected now (she plans to send 5 or 6). And I just got the lady with the defunct auction to send me 3 of hers as well. So I'm HOPING an LG can easily hold 9 goose eggs, with room to hand-turn them...

Or I'm about to be down to just ONE chicken egg incubator while the other two are tied up with geese!

New here! We are in the Thomson area and after ordering a coop (We know we will have to upgrade it to make it suitable) we went to the tractor supply and got 6 chicks (minimum purchase they said), 3 listed as silver lace (I think) and then 3 black ones. No idea what kinds. I am trying to find 2 of them homes, any ideas the best way to do this? We would like to get 2 different kind of chickens for this flock if that makes any sense. LOL

Hey now. I made known my partial uncertainty! :p Yes, my answer was with turner.. You're right.
