This is exciting; everyone's eggs and babies are arriving and we have new chicken peeps to talk shop and trade with!
I tried to post earlier today from the farm, but my phone did something weird and the whole thing disappeared, so here's the short version:
I spent the afternoon in the bunny barn -good therapy for the blues I've had -and I got to be a midwife for an exhausted San Juan doe. She had ten, but the last few ended up near the edge of the box, getting chilled and not cleaned off. I cleaned them for her and warmed them, then tucked them in with others. Just as I settled in to my chair again, the other San Juan doe started pulling fur. She's really dragging her labor out -just checked her a few minutes ago and still no kits, but the nest is done.
