YO GEORGIANS! :)

Is that the San Juan Doe? She is a pretty one...good for meat or not? I likes meh some bunnies, but not on a long term basis.

HadHow are they on cost per lb if they are meat bunnies? I am interested in raising a few for meat. Teach me....lol

That's her, and another just like her beside her. They are actually San Juan/Salatin mixes, with just a touch of Chinchilla in there too. I breed them to an American Chinchilla buck, and so far they have had litters of 9 and 10. The kits grow a bit slower than say New Zealand, but they finish out in a tractor(pastured) just fine at about 10 weeks. I don't usually analyze cost, because that isn't my objective. I got them from an all-organic farm, and I just got a starter herd of New Zealand from a more traditional rabbit farmer, but the Nz haven't had kits for me yet. I have mostly dual purpose animals on my little farm, with a few fancies thrown in, and I'd be happy to help you get started in bunnies if you'd like.

So my wife calls me to tell me her eggs are in Atlanta then gets off the phone to email more of you crazy chicken people. I swear if I could lay an egg shed like me more.

Sounds like you better start reading "egg laying for dummies" (the human version) :lau
