But yes we plan to raise some!! Sorry i'm excited!I would be to! They are beautiful birds. I would like some eggs from you maybe I can get a roo for my little hen her bloodline is from Oklahoma.
do you all ahve an insulated coop or no? I am thinking I don't need to do it but want ot be sure
No, I don't really think it gets that cold here. Those insulated coops are mainly for people who live way up north when the temps stay at freezing and below. Most chickens tolerate the cold better than they do the heat. The only problem I have had in the winter is the water freezing...I would have to make sure to get the ice out of water feeders in the mornings every time it froze. I have a coop that my chickens could go to if they wanted and they chose the roosts in the run the entire winter.do you all ahve an insulated coop or no? Missyktsm Hello!Hi! I was just in Newnan today. I love that town...the historical houses are beautiful and its so clean lol. I found a great deal on a chicken house that was just too good to pass up and will be picking it up tomorrow. Had planned on building our coop this weekend but this will be way better.
Thanks for the info on the placement and the silkies. The area we've chosen is a little flat spot on top of a well shaded hill with late afternoon sun. I'm hoping it will be perfect. Thanks also for the pine bark info. I've been trying to decide what to use.
Did you buy your silkies locally? The feed & seed I use doesn't carry them so I'd been planning to mail order. If there is a good supplier around here I'd love to know.![]()
