YO GEORGIANS! :)

Thank you all but my baby was beyond help I guess, she passed a few min ago.
Awww! I'm so sorry...

The red brooder light is throwing off my pics and the flash scares my babies so I went techno. This little gal is always the first to great me, always sits by me and is a crack up...does her expression give the ham in her away? She is my Astralorp. My wee little EE in the back ground seems to have no fear and loves to play leap frog off of everything in the brooder including her sisters.

How adorable! Oh I can't wait until my flock gets older so I can hatch some chicks!!

Hello from LaGrange. I've got 25 city chickens in my front yard at the moment. They get rotated around my small yard at different times of the year. I've got a mixture of RIR, Delaware, BA, EE, NHR, and a couple of Lakenvelders. One rooster. I've had them for almost 2 years. I'm really interested in maybe trading eggs for hatching so I can get a few different kinds at some point this summer the next time one of my girls goes broody. My roo is a NHR. He's a sweet guy named Rusty. I hatched out a few batches with the help of a couple of my hens last year when I had a Golden Polish Roo, too. So I have one girl who lays blue eggs and is a mix of my girl in the picture here and the Golden Polish. I also have a hen who lays an olive colored egg from the mix between an EE and Rusty. I call them EEs even though when I bought them (from a major supplier) as chicks I was told they were Araucanas. It's always live and learn with chickens. I'm very interested in getting a few Blue Wheaten Araucanas eggs or maybe even older ones depending on the situation. It's just a thought for when one of the hens goes broody again later in June.

Viollett, I don't have Blue Wheaten Araucana eggs, but I do have Lavender Ameraucana eggs should you be interested, Just pm me.. How nice LaGrange lets you keep so many chickens. Our nearest city - Carrollton allows muc much fewer!

(Don't want to call you, bargain.) :) Those lavenders sound interesting as well. When I'm ready I will definitely keep you in mind. I really just want a few different kinds than I have now.

Yes, we are lucky here. There is no limit to how many you can have as long as you can handle what you do have in your yard and it not be a nuisance. There are other laws that cover noise, etc. so if you have nice neighbors then it's all good. Mine get to free range (yard range) and I have fences to keep out the bad guys and keep the good guys and girls - in. I've noticed, because of the crowing of the roos, that a few neighbors in some surrounding blocks now have chickens as well and I think they are all loose so I guess it is all about what the neighbors will tolerate. The only stipulation is you cannot "sell" eggs. However, you can give eggs if you like to anyone who wants to donate to the upkeep of your chickens. It's a great little city.
