YO GEORGIANS! :)

JHarper already mentioned the first part. I never learned how to sex mine and I put in every ad that they are sold "straight run only". BUT, for the ones that do grow up to be roosters that I don't want... they go to the chopping block. I can't do it myself at all, (I can process the chicken, I just can't be the one to take it's life) so I had to look up a butcher that would do it for me. When they come back, my sister puts them in the roaster. And after dinner, the remains are usually... fed back to the chickens in the pen. And thus completes the circle of life.
Except we rent our home out as a vacation rental and we can't grow out our roosters because they crow. Unfortunately, most renters don't like to hear roosters crowing at 3-4 in the morning! LOL! So, they have to go before they get big enough to eat.

So.... Anyone else looking forward to the frigid temps we have coming up early next week??

I'm a little concerned for my flock. This is my first winter as a chicken "parent." I started a discussion in the emergency section on here, hoping to get some tips & pointers on what I can do, sans electricity. All you experts on here, feel free to chime in.

@GAFarmGirl87 Hate cold weather! The summer is much better in my opinion! There's more eggs, more food to free range on, no freezing waterers, don't have to worry about frostbite, and I don't have to use the silkies as ear muffs!!

@GoldenChicks16 Yep, I totally agree! This cold is going right to my bones! Though when summer comes with all that humidity, I'll be wishing for winter.

I hope I'll be reminded of how terrible this winter was, so I can appreciate the warmer weather!! Today was so darn cold I wanted to just stay cuddled up in bed. Oh well, I guess we can't have it all...

@GAFarmGirl87 I think this may be one of the coldest winters! Great time to start hatching out babies right..? Haha I have a incubator full right now and I'm so scared of the cold weather!
