I just had to go back 60 pages in this thread to verify the date but...
I've got an egg dated February 11th from my "silkie" pen. There are two others from the main pen due the same day, but one already hatched, the other has already done an external pip last night (due to zip anytime now) so this one could also hatch early. The one from the silkie pen has internally pipped, so I made the "assist" holes in it (two tiny holes into the air cell, using a 22G needle, for access to more air in case it fails the external pip at first).
This particular egg is the very last possible egg from the mixed-breed bantam hen that I lost to a possum. I'll check the wings when it comes out and HOPE for a sign that it's a female. If so, I'll probably keep it.
But more importantly, ANY egg from the silkie pen that hatches after this one, will be a purebred silkie. I've got eggs dated for the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 1st, and 3rd. Yeah, exactly every other day, lol! But when those hatch, I will FINALLY have 100% purebred silkie babies. And it's going to be interesting to find out if it's my white silkie hen, or if it's the black one I got from abmaddox.
