Okay so bathtime was... eventful! I couldn't do it last night because of hot water wars in the house. But I got them just now. I learned that the roo only had PART mud on him. A lot of it apparently was blood from his comb and face, thanks to other roosters while they were in the laundry room. I got a good bit though. He'll also apparently have to grow some feathers back in on his face.
But he's clean, and eating and drinking on top of the incubator next to me right now. The black hen I wasn't worried about. She has a little spiky hair-do, but otherwise she's relatively clean. She isn't caked with mud, so her fluffy butt can insulate her own body just fine. The white hen got a bath too, and she's huddled up next to the hair dryer right now. Well, as good as she can be, because Black Fluffy Butt keeps standing in front of the hair dryer with the warm air blowing on... her butt. It's a funny sight, for sure!
I set a nest box on top of the trash can lid beside the incubator though. Both girls are laying, and NOBODY is going back outside until they are dry, so I gave them something to lay in, just in case.
I have pictures of a pathetic, wet roo, but my phone is being stupid about uploading them. I'll get them up as soon as it lets me!
