So dang AMAZING how fast it happens. This morning, could jut baaarely make out the vein spot.. Almost wondered if you're seeing things but know you're not. Then now, actual movement!
 
I am getting eggcited over MY little one that I have been incubating in my bra :D
It grew so much overnight I swear! It is on Day #18 today :D. My see through hatching
box with thermometer and heat lamp is ready functional and waiting. My broody EE
sure is doing wellincubating the silkie eggs!! The eggs I was worried about because
the silkie mom kept pushing them out from under her are FINE. Fertile and growing now.
The one egg I left under the silkie has vascular growth but one vein is in a circular
pattern, not dead, just in a circle. On day #3 so I will watch it to see what happens.
if it dies I will give her one of the others that I had to put under the other hen.

we lost buddy last night to a dog. its heart breaking not wakeing up to his crow. we did all we could to save him but we just wasnt fast enough.
 
yes we do. we talked to the owners right after it happened. the law came out at 7 this am and told us we could shoot it. it has killed 35 of our chickens since october. the animal control came out an talked to us and the dogs owner
 
At that point, I'd be walking TO that person's house with a shotgun slung over my shoulder saying "bring out the dog..."
 
So I candled all 32 eggs I'm the incubator today.. All but two are looking amazing. The other two are questionable about fertility... But their also extremely dark.. I think I see something when I look into them but I'm not sure.
 
How on earth does a person have a dog that has killed that many of their neighbor's chickens and nothing has been done ... by them or the local authorities?
