YO GEORGIANS! :)

@HollyORiley Yup, I have the leghorns! Actually have 10(?) eggs in the incubator right now due for march 6th. And of course everyone would remember the crazy chick guy that wanted 100 babies..

just catching up on reading, but not from as far back as Roboduck!

Anyhow, LTygress - turkey prices are easy; just think of "more than you wanted to pay", and add some more :p. My first pair cost me almost $100, and they were inexpensive because they were ex 4-H projects and the kids needed room for new birds. Then I paid more than that for the next hen and some poults from an organic farm. I just sold the last jake from that batch, and he was sale priced. I would have a bigger flock if they weren't so expensive! I don't think my husband knows how much i actually paid for those goofy birds, even now. He did hear the conversation when I was trying to decide how many poults to get, though:
Me: "I'd like 4 please"
Her: "Ok, then you should get 6 or even 8. Turkeys are really good at killing themselves as poults."
Me: "well, that's not exactly encouraging"

In the end, I only wound up with two that survived to day 3 after hatch form that batch, but that's because we let mom keep them and try to raise them. I don't recommend that approach.

Oh, and I made to TSC today, and the chicks are late in arriving -the set-up is there, but no birds yet. The guy that brought my stuff out to the car for me was nice enough to tell my daughter that she could come back tomorrow to see chicks; so guess what will be on her mind as soon as her little eyes open in the morning?
