YO GEORGIANS! :)

Buy one from Efowl or Purely Poultry ... or just about anywhere else, it seems. lol Only the wild ones are protected. Domestically bred/raised ones are fine.

That's what I thought, but someone told me that it was illegal.

I would buy online, but I only want one and the minimum order is six.

It is unless you have a liscense. I know one of those sends you a permit with their goslings. I trained that goose to fly. He would follow me every where. Flew right next to me on the four wheeler and golf cart. Would only let me touch him. He would try to preen me too if I was laying on the ground.

Been gone all day (well, all afternoon).. Heading home now and I've gone over every possible scenario for my bator/temp status. From too low... To astronomically high.. To power out.. To power surge/house burned down.

Could I BE, any more silly? :idunno

Exactly. Metzer provides you with the permit when you buy one. And the minimum order IS six, but try splitting the order with someone else. Maybe the other person looking for canadian geese on the buy/sell/trade forums here - I don't know where they were located though. But maybe Jharper wants another one too. Or maybe you can find someone on craigslist who wants one and is willing to split the order.

A license? Or documentation of it being a domestic strain that is legal?

Specifically, a permit to own one from the breeder who produced it.

I still think you guys should just grab some eggs for her and send it her way, anyway. It would be a few less goslings that grow up and return to poop on your yard next year, lol!

Yep ... here's Metzers data:

We will supply you a free permit with your goslings. This is all you need unless you sell or give away any of your Canada geese. If you do this, you need to get a permit from the US Fish and Game. You can go to our Fish and Game Office page to find your nearest office. Fines are stiff if you are selling or giving away Canada geese so we encourage you to get the necessary permit once you start producing more geese than you want to keep.

I think I may have been thinking of Mallards ... or eastern turkey ... or wild yak ... or ... ?
