YO GEORGIANS! :)

So sorry folks, but I just have to vent. It is official; I'm having a terrible weekend. I could seriously use some good news right now, but I don't think I'll hold my breath. Yesterday I pulled a back muscle, lost a chick in the brooder, got bit by a dog, and didn't hear back about the job I interviewed for. Today, I lost my Mini Rex buck -the best of all my rabbits -to a probable trespassing situation, and I still haven't heard about the job. I'm physically hurt, sad, and angry :(. I just snapped at the little zookeeper, so I'm going for a drive (and then to bury my poor Cheddar bunny).  I hope everyone else is having a fantastic weekend, and that you all have much better luck -this is NOT fun.

Aw... I hope things start looking up soon.

**Big Hugs** Mrsdszoo....so sorry. Have been working on this very nice day!!

But my hen Lucy enjoyed worm hunting and boy is she good at spying at where they land. Am thinking about giving Russell a haircut so he can see the worms at all!

FINALLY got the chickens back in their darn pen!

After fixing it I decided I would try to feed them in there to get them back in. Nope, it's springtime and the bugs are out, and they had NO interest in layer feed or scratch. They wanted the BUGS!

So I decided I would try to catch them when they roost. Not happening. Not a single one roosted on the side of the pen anymore. Every last one of them flew up into a tree where I couldn't reach them. Silly Sumatras taught the rest how to fly, I guess!

So I decided to get some super mealworms and some tuna. That attracted a couple of roosters and some hens. I caught the third main roo (the gold polish) which attracted more hens to come in to the pen. I just stood at the gate, opening it at the right time when none of the others were close to it on the inside, and the hens were close to it on the outside. The hens like to be with their man, so I knew they wanted back in sooner or later!

Then it was a job and a half catching the phoenix roo. He's been semi-challenging me lately, so I let him. I even let him run up on me with my back turned. When he got close enough, I dropped and extended my hand, knowing he would jump and probably try to attack it. He jumped at it, but didn't attack. It put him close enough for me to grab though, and it was over. Into the pen he went.

The last two left outside of the pen are two very random, mixed breed bantams. One roo, one hen. They were raised by a broody, and never been brought inside for any reason, so they are extremely skittish and don't trust any humans at all. I'm not sure if they will try to roost on the pen near the others tonight, or back up in the tree. If they roost near the others on the top of the pen, I've got them. If not, I have no idea how I'll ever catch them.

If you think the chickens are bad, you should see the kids that live here! My nieces and nephews are a total mess!

Will giving my girls cilantro, flavor my eggs funny?

I don't think it will. And BTW, this "sweet little hen" is a B*&#$!
She just beat the crap out of this big flippin' Marans roo for trying to get too friendly. They will be getting their own pen with my AM/EE and an OE hen tomorrow. I think they'll be happier.
