Ok newbie question... Will my chickens eat the fire ants? Or do I still need to treat my property for them? We just bought this house and have a gazillion fire ant mounds.

Speaking of eggs though, @abmaddox1981 , how many did you request from that turkey farmer? The ad was missing today, so I'm thinking you already bought him out! LOL!

Go ahead and treat for them. None of my chickens touch ants for some reason. But yesterday I saw a younger chick pick up an ant, and spit it right back out. He didn't seem to care for it at all!

Maybe someone else has had good luck with chickens eating them, but not me!

Mine don't either. That's why I'm getting turkeys. They'll eat ticks and fleas too.

And just how do you know it's not pronounced MAR tin ez instead of Mar Teen ez? Maybe that guy was from Southern Spain. Ever think of that?

Because the fourth generation of his offspring is still alive, and they pronounce it "mar TEEN ez" too.

Maybe they lived in the northeast too long and forgot how to say it right.

Don't treat with granuals. I was told this just yesterday by a lady who did and came home to a yard full of dead chickens.
