YO GEORGIANS! :)

:-(

Hope you feel better!

Thanks. Me too. I have to drop some paperwork off at DFACS, pick up my state return, stalk the mailbox, drive to stockbridge for Buckeye chicks, all with an energy filled, extra loud 2yo. Then get the big kids of their busses. And somewhere in all of this I have to do critter chores and feed the afore mentioned 2yo. Plus cook dinner.
Sorry, I'll stop whining now. I just feel a bit overwhelmed.

Most likely, you can/should release your pets after the Canada geese have left. Then your animals will be able to set up their own limits on it. And when the canada geese return, your pets should be ready to defend their own territory. And there should be more of them, so it will work out in their favor. Meanwhile, the Canada geese probably won't leave, so you are likely to end up with all of them being friends after a while, or at least setting limits for each and just respecting each other.

My biggest fear, would be your flock joining them, and trying to fly off with them.
We've been told that a mating pair returns each year and they weren't there until just a few days ago so they do leave. I'm hoping they'll be gone by the time we're ready to release any geese. The ducks will be a different matter though. There will be ducks going out before too much longer.

Gah! Checked CL for hatching eggs of breeds I want, and the entire first page is from some guy in Hoschton selling junk, with an individual ad for each item, and listed as "for sale... by owner" (not dealer). I hate when people do that.

Mr Bad Chicken himself is getting bad about that too with 11 ads yesterday. Why can't people just post ONE AD for the sh** they have? UNLESS they are posting as a DEALER, in which case, I can just filter that out, and I'm good to go.

Might want to keep the ducks in an enclosure of some sort until the Canada geese leave. And if you do let them out, give them about an hour of free time near the pond with supervision to make sure the geese don't get evil on them.

I am hopeful, with the size and shape of the pond, that they'll be able to all keep their distance. The duckies absolutely will go to an enclosure before being released so it might be a chance to feel out how hateful the geese will be.

I like that there is such a great variety of wildlife but it certainly makes us have to stop and think a bit, too.

By the way, were your Cayuga eggs ordered or laid by existing ducks you already have?
