YO GEORGIANS! :)

I have never liked tomatoes.  But I always found it interesting how you can take the left over green ones off the vines at the end of the season before the first frost, wrap them in newspaper, stick them in a dark room, and they ripen beautifully.   Never figured out how they do that.

All vegetation gives off gas, think its methane, once picked. It's the natural decomposition process. If up wrap it up, you trap the gas and it causes it to ripen faster.

That kinda makes sense.  GAM says my gas is ripe and smells like decomposition so I understand their dilemma.

My sizzle eggs came in today and Holy Cow was this woman generous! I ordered a dozen and she sent me 30! I have a dozen porcelain and cuckoo eggs due in tomorrow and if this woman sends extras too, I won't have room in the incubator for all of them. Decisions, decisions...

Do I have to buy grit for the chickens? We have really sandy soil and plan to let them free range most of the time, but they will also have a run. Will sand be ok as grit?
