YO GEORGIANS! :)

Busy indeed!

I've got my month-olds outside in the tractor today. Tried to give them a piece of banana, but they don't get it!

it's so funny to watch them look at it, stick their beaks to the point of almost pecking it, and then run away, one at a time.

Agreed, I loved watching mine do that

Mt. Healthy ....at least the ones in Dawsonville TS come from there!
Well honestly, the ones in the TS on 20 didn't look healthy. I'm not sure if thats the hatchery they came from, but it probably is. The girl had just gotten them from the post office and when she opened the box I didn't see any gro-gel in there. I've never bought any from any TS, but I'm not sure I would either. The ones in the bins just don't ever look healthy to me. I almost got one that was getting walked on the other day though, but I would have only gotten that one and then gone to TC Country, Sacketts, or Ruckers to get more. My mom shot that idea down real quick though

Ruckers is where I got my new SS and EE! Like that you can buy one at a time if you want to,
I know. They take good care of them and they always look healthy. Ive been going there for 4 years and between them and TC country I can usually find anything I need for a sick chicken. I had a speckled in my last flock and loved her, she was beautiful.

I always thought of EE as only being orange and white, but I've never actually seen one with that coloring. Hopefully when she gets older you will post a picture of her!

I know they're getting in Araucanas(EE) and BO next week, but I'm not sure I can convince the family to let me get a few.

So my older friend called and said she bought hatching eggs from ebay. She doesn't really know a lot about hatching eggs. The first thing I found out was that she ordered them from a place in Calif! Oh my gosh. I wouldn't have ordered eggs from that far away. She tried hatching eggs several times. She got one out of 30 the first time and none the second time. She doesn't really understand how it's all a balancing act, On the last one she called and said she had just put the eggs in lock down. It was day 10! I told her she was suppose to candle them on day 10, but lockdown wasn't until day 18. She said, "Oh well, we will see if anything hatches".. Well nothing did. Well, she doesn't want to kill everything so she asked if I will hatch them for her. My DH said I could!!!!! BUT, only if I promise I won't keep anything. She also asked me where you can get stuff to vaccinate the chicks and where you get grow gel. Can anyone tell me?

Yea, I argued with the lady at ruckers. Told her she shouldn't be selling her EEers as Araucanas. But, it was like talking to the wind.

So many EEers are that brownish color with gold around the neck...That is a very typical coloring. This one is whitish with the orange tips....but today it looks like she may have some bluish tones. EEers are one of my favorite type of chickens. They are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get! I have seen two totally different color EE grow to look like twins and I have seen yellow chicks grow to brownish black! Weird!
