YO GEORGIANS! :)

Okay we all know you are NOT taking that chick back on Monday (plus would the feet fix that quickly?)

So what type of chick is that?

HOW IN THE HELL...

I went to Tractor Supply with my sister. I figured she would keep me from buying chicks. Last year we got a plum tree and a pear tree (both self-pollinating) that never started growing. We saw some the other day when I picked up pine shavings, and they all had growth on them already. So we went back today to buy some.

So yeah, she'd keep me from buying chicks, right?

SOMEHOW, I just came home with 11 chicks, and two ducklings! SHE was the one who caved in and got them! We had my niece with me who really wanted the ducks, and my sister wanted the "meat birds" (cornish rocks) that she could raise on her own. We did come back with a growing plum tree, but the only pear tree they had, needed to be cross-pollinated, and they only had one. We got a huge blueberry bush though with TONS of growth and flowers on it.

But how in the hell did I take the anti-livestock person from this house, and end up coming home with 13 new little babies??? NONE of which were my own picks!

And to add to the oddities, we saw a double rainbow on the way home.

Forget the full moon, the universe just flipped upside down!

(By the way, I know you can't raise full-blooded cornish to adulthood and breed them, but what about Cornish rocks? She wants me to keep hatching them so she can keep having meat birds.)

I thought Cornish that you can't raise to adulthood, WERE the cross. How is there a "pure Cornish" if they can't be bred?

I may just be tired. ;)

Hey guys! I have a question for ya! I need silkie chicks for my kids for Easter. I can get hatching eggs this week or get chicks from someone local. My kids would LOVE tiny chicks but have all requested different colors. One wants white, one black and one wants "grey" . SO, what suggestions can you give me. I'm building a separate coop now I'd love sexed chicks but they are sold out at mypetchicken. I'd love to have 3 pullets and a roo, but I know silkies are hard to sex. I can get more and later rehome what i do not need.
Any ideas?

People on Ebay sell different color hatching Silkie eggs. You would hatch out a variety of colors. The kids could grow them out, pick their choice and sell the others.

Okay the two ducklings just got their first swim ever in my niece's bathtub - and they aren't even showing feathers yet! They enjoyed it though and now they are sitting in a laundry basket lined with a towel in the floor of my room with a hair dryer on them. They don't seem the slightest bit cold though. Even their baby-down can keep those bodies water-tight!

In the meantime, my nieces, nephews, and sister, are all taking scrub brushes to my old 100-Gallon aquarium for the ducklings and cornish rocks to stay in for now. But seeing as how my nephew thought nothing wrong of throwing nasty trash on it as it sat on the back porch, it got covered in gross ****. But it's THEIR birds, and THEIR mistake that made it dirty, so THEY get to clean it!

I'm still shocked that they're all cooing over their new babies, and here I am as the household fowl expert thinking what new dimension of existence I just entered....
