Do geese have to have diapers? I mean, is it so you can brood them longer with less mess? Or are these going to be house geese?Just got a little scare for a moment...
I logged in to my email to see I had a refund from an Etsy vendor. Only thing I have bought from anyone on Etsy was my goose diapers. I'm thinking "Oh no, these things hatch tomorrow, and I will have no diapers in case one gets sick!" And I ordered them a month ago! It takes 6-8 weeks to get around to the order, and make the diapers ordered. So I was expecting them a week or two from now. But I thought maybe she went out of business all of a sudden, and refunded my money!
Turns out all is well. The refund was for only $10 (not the entire purchase price), because I ordered add-ons (i.e. leak guard, leash attachment) that are apparently included on the diaper style that I ordered. So she gave the "add-on" cost back to me.
The grow-with-me diaper (super-adjustable and meant for geese ages 2-weeks plus) will be sent out next week. The adult-sized one will be sent out whenever it is finished being sewn together.
I feel your excitement! Wish I was there to share it with you! I have some good news, too. My DH let me fire up the incubator to hatch eggs for my friend and she brought the eggs over today! Yea! So I should have Easter chicks for her!Okay, caught up. Now for my own exciting news. I got off work at 3pm, but been SO excited about this, I couldn't quite plop my butt down at a computer and start typing yet. Instead, I ran around telling everyone currently at the house (which includes my mom and brother today).
ALL THREE OF MY GOOSE EGGS HAVE EXTERNAL PIPS!!!!
OMG, OMG, OMG, I never expected these three to make it all the way. The ones I had waited over a year for all quit on me - and I had five of those. But the ones I bought on a whim from an auction in the BST forums arrived with detached air cells, but still developed and still successfully pipped both internally and externally! This morning, they were all chirping loud enough to hear them outside of the closet with the shells still in tact. So I knew it wouldn't be long. But now, they are ALL breathing fresh air, and should hatch within about 24-36 hours! I CAN'T WAIT! Here's hoping I don't get three of the same gender, though. Any other combination I can deal with, because I'll have at least a pair.
I'm about to lose A LOT of sleep tonight! They were due tomorrow, and it looks like they are going to hatch right on time!
