GRRR!!! My male dorking chick - dead! SO frustrating. @abmaddox1981 - have you lost any more?

I let my little crested cream legbar chick and the remaining dorking chick in with the buff orpingtons and they are doing fine. Yesterday the BOs wanted to pull the wing feathers off the CL.

I had never heard of them before coming on this forum either. I think it was Robo or GAM that started talking about them and their mousing abilities. The mousing thing peaked my interest (having a rodent problem in my coop right now) and I did a little research. Like Robo said, supposedly they roar...a roaring chicken? That makes them that much cooler to me. They are also said to be extremely friendly. In researching them, I didn't find anything that wasn't what I consider to be great attributes for a chicken...and I REALLY need some mousers right now.

What!? A roaring chicken? I want one!!! Who sells them?

Harvest date for our Cornish Rock Xs is tomorrow. I've looked at several threads concerning this, but curious if anyone here has any advice.

@pr0wlunwoof My Cornish Rocks would never go into their shelter (we had converted a dog house into a temporary home for them for protection outside...each night we have go outside and put them up. My layers on the other hand go to straight to roost at their bedtime. The Rocks just huddle up in a tight little wad.

I see a lot of you have Marans. I had never heard of them until recently. What is so great about them?

Linda, I got my buckeyes from cackle hatchery.

And marans are just a good dual purpose brown egg layer that lays pretty much an egg a day. All those pics GAM posted are of her marans. The boys are pretty birds.

My Blue Copper Marans still young. We got them in January. My friend has 2 pullets and 1 cockerel, and I have 2 pullets. They are beautiful birds. The ones that I have are very docile. I love their feathered feet. My friend is hoping to breed Olive Eggers with hers, but that is a little ways down the road!
