I just did basically the same thing; I just ran into trouble with the rain. I say just keep an eye on the little nuggets so that you're sure they can get into the coop from the run on their own; the should be fine wise.
 
Thanks mrsdszoo :) Yes, for now they're locked up in the coop anyhow.. I'm afraid they're still small enough to fit through one or two of the gaps in the redneck run, so I'll still have to try and give them outside time in the kennel for now.

The mom appears to be mostly blue, just not as dark, and dad is a nice deep blue, with the two very thin red pelvic fins drooping down directly below his gills. Unfortunately, pelvic fins in a betta are very long, so it's easy to see. But neither fish has green or white on them. So their ability to produce those colors tells me they probably have a big jumble of colors in their lineage.

Oh, I might get mom of the year if I bring home a baby beta to the little zookeeper!! I would also love to see photos when you can :).

How about Capone for the little roo? Because that sure is one heck of a mug shot ;). You'd have to look up names of Capone girlfriends then.
