Just imagine trying to unscrew the metal base out of a light socket, because a bulb busted, to understand the trouble it causes!

Easy fix. Unplug it and jam a potato in the socket and use it to unscrew the piece.

Today is one of those days I just can't seem to keep on track. Renters left so I have to wash every sheet, towel, rooms, windows, etc. I keep finding excuses to go outside. Just can't seem to want to do all I need to!

Is there any way to get a Dominque pullet to go broody? she is around 7-8 months and already laying. Also, her fellow Dom got killed last night, so is there any way to help her not be lonely without putting other chickens in there with her. We have six more, but she is a runt and since Doms are very docile I don't know if I should put another chicken in there with her. Our other chickens are modern hybrids and some are a little aggressive .

That actually doesn't always work as easily as it sounds.

you can't really make a hen go broody. You can try giving her a good dark nest with some dummy eggs/golf balls, but some birds just won't go broody.

Can you put her pen next to/inside of the big pen? That way she's around them, but they can't pick on her. It also helps them get used to each other

Flower your pics make me want more color layers. And I've even been considering a white egg layer too.. But is there anything that lays white but isn't white itself??

some game varieties lay white eggs. One of my games lays a white egg, I'm not sure which, but she's definitely NOT white. The rest of my games lay cream colored eggs.

Did you ever get any development with the duck eggs? Mine are all looking good

None of the eggs developed. Doesn't look like they were fertile. None of the chicken eggs ever developed either. Nada.

It was too pretty most of the day to be indoors. But the rain has started now and will probably be with us through Tuesday. We did go visit with Carolyn today. We are getting the coop and a few other things.
