YO GEORGIANS! :)

So yesterday I took the bator out for a terminal clean.. Sat my digital and mercury therms on the porch side by side for a bit. Every time I looked, they were 2* off. Mercury 72, digital 70. Mercury 70, digital 68. Sounds good, right?

So I brought everything back in, turned bator on. Forgot about it. Went back and mercury said 110. Digital, 99. So digital obviously doesn't go over 99, I figured. It's faulty.

Get up this morning, mercury says 104, digital says 100.

Evidently it's varmit control day here at Treeland Ranch. Had the fox this morning and just heard one of the dogs raising cane in her kennel. Went out to find a four foot copperhead climbing along the top of the kennel. Dispatched the snake then checked the dogs for bites. Everyone is fine. Wondering what's next... Yote, coons, sasquatch..,..

THANK YOU!
My only concern at this point is the warnings on the stuff. I didn't buy sevin brand dust. I bought something else because it said "poultry" on it. I figured it's basically the same thing. Do you wear a mask when doing this? And I guess it's safe for dogs after the dust is dispersed like that. I worry because my Dobie eats everything. I had him at the emergency vet last year when he ate something outside that was moldy. Anyway, I can't afford that vet bill again. Just trying to be cautious. Possibly overly so.

yikes!

Last month, I saw three snakes in my yard. That's ridiculous so early in the season.

I've had the same problem. If I take both of my digital thermometers out of the 'bator and leave them in my room, they'll either match temperature, or they'll be only one degree off. But when they get above 90, the difference between them becomes bigger and bigger. That's why I'm just sticking with the mercury version (although they aren't REALLY mercury anymore).

So far this spring, I've caught eight possums in the traps. And in my search for my last EE's nest, I've come across the holes that most of them PROBABLY lived in. However, today I checked and found four or five holes that I put sticks into, and the sticks had been chewed up. So there's something still in those.

But the worst part was finding out my next-door-neighbor (whose property Brownie currently uses to plop an egg into an old wash basin sitting outside) has a brush/limb pile as high as his own HOUSE! And it has clearly been sitting there for a while, as the part on the very bottom has decayed. But I found a really big hole in it, like a fox had probably dug into the side of it, and moved in!
