YO GEORGIANS! :)

Where are Robo & Gam & abmaddox? They haven't been very active lately.

Did they leave us & start their own thread? :old

Abmaddox's birds are all at other houses because of the trouble with the zoning, so she gets a bit melancholy reading about all of the fun things everyone is up to. I don't know about Robo and GAM, but they may be doing the same thing as I am -busting their butts during the day on their farm and working on projects then passing out asleep in the evenings ;).

I'm using almost the same method while I finish the big duck enclosure. I'm not moving them twice a day, so it's not as clean, but we're doing alright.

Ducks are super messy if they are confined. And yes they are very cute and sweet to make up for it. :)

The best way I found last year was to keep them in a mobile enclosure. Every morning before work and every afternoon- (twice a day, every day, without fail)- I moved the enclosure and sprayed the waste/nastiness into the grass. Hosed the ducks as well. Refilled their water and feed. They go thru tons of both. But this way worked great for me. :)

Also ducks are vastly healthier than chickens. No mitea to worry about and if it rains they are happier than if it doesn't. We have 26 ducks and have absolutely NO ODOR. Of course that may be because they have free run of a 2.5 acre pond.
Yes, of course like said here they're totally cleaner once they're out on their own. It's just getting them grown out that'll kill ya! :p

I have three that are around that age and they're out on their own, no light. I figure, they made it through last night so...
Thanks for answering. Just found out my husband decided they needed the light on.

It's only 25 watts so it shouldn't over heat them. They have a lot of ventilation.

I went ahead and gave mine an actual radiator heater last night. It's all I had because of the blown light bulb. After losing the one polish to the cold though (and no, she didn't make it) I wasn't taking chances. I figured they needed SOMETHING. But then mine aren't that old, either. The polish was 6 weeks, I've got a couple of 5-week-olds in there, and then the cornish rocks who have HUGE patches of bare skin because they're growing too fast for feathers.

Oh. Well, in that case, they are forgiven. :D

I sure hope Abmaddox finds a suitable place quickly! I'll be praying for her.
