YO GEORGIANS! :)

His voice is a raspy squeek and not a quack. And you have ducks that look like this?! From TSC?

Yup, all 4 from TSC, and they only get their chicks and ducklings from Mt. Healthy and Mt. Healthy doesn't seem to have anything on their site that looks like those colored ducks! Mystery! They all appear healthy at least.

Well it has been a while since I have been on here.

A week and a half ago my awesome neighbors gave me 6 Muscovy eggs, then 3 days later the guy showed up at my house and gave me 11 more. I candled them today and most of them are doing really well. Out of 17 eggs, 5 didn't develop right. I'm hoping the rest will hatch, I haven't had ducks in two years.

That is very cool!

Yes she was. When I told her all that had happened and that there was also another one that had a pip her reply back was GEEZ!!! LOL! She has a brooder full (around 17 or so) of Silkie chicks from white Silkie parents. She can't keep them because she has a small coop and run. She knows of a fellow that wants 6 maybe more, if not she doesn't know if she will advertise them or what. I have three of them that I am hopeful are hens because I have a blue Silkie Roo. She also has about 6 more eggs in the bator and the hens keep laying fertile eggs. :)

If I had a big enough coop I might be asking to buy Silkies! As is we need to build a bigger coop and I found out today a friend can't keep their chickens so they are bringing us a hand full of adult chickens and a hen who hatched 13 chicks about a month ago! We are up to our ear in chickens and not enough coop space! LOL

Oh Wow! Wish I could have more too. I have room for a few more but the DH said he had to put his foot down for now. :( Oh well, So far we have 22. I would love some Black Copper Maran chickens (the roosters are gorgeous) and a couple Ameraucana hens. Maybe in the future. I just got a used storage shed from a couple that used to live in Thomson but had to move to Savannah and couldn't take the building with them. It is 10 x 12 and shaped like a barn in natural wood. I've been painting the inside and outside white and will put red trim on it. I'm trying to get it cooler. We will be putting in windows and adding a run as soon as we can. I need to get the 16 chicks in it soon! 13 of the chicks are nearly 6 weeks old with 3 being about 3 to 4 weeks old. I'm sick of the dust they keep putting everywhere in the house. LOL!

Sorry about you losing your Silkies. Were you able to find somewhere else for you animals? I will ask my daughter about the fertile eggs. Wish you were closer to us and you could come pic out some chicks too! She lives in Lincoln County and I'm in Wilkes.
It will be a little while before I'm back out that way, but I will be going sooner or later. I'm enrolled in the Augusta VA medical center, so I have to drive up there every time I go for an appointment. However, the next yearly check-up isn't until February. I very rarely go up there for appointments in between. Unless my legal case against Columbia County gets settled soon, I doubt I'll be up there for any other reasons.

As for finding a place for my birds, I think I have. I have a friend who said call her as a last resort, and she would take them IF I had cages for them (which I do). But she doesn't want to have them there very long. So then abmaddox said I could borrow some of her yard for mine once she gets into a new house. In both cases, I'd still be taking care of my own. I'd just have them on someone else's land.

And my mom estimated no more than about 6 months until I could probably have my own place again. I would probably be able to keep one incubator in her place while I stayed there, and one small brooder. But with two broody hens right now, many of the chicks can go under them. I just put three under the Sumatra yesterday.

The ones I'm most worried about are the sizzles and the turkey poults. Neither of them have been exposed to these other chickens, who have all been exposed to the babies that were dying. I STILL don't know what was killing them, so I've kept them separate this entire time. I have no idea if putting them together after they are moved, is going to create problems with those who weren't exposed.

That is just wild... I know our ducks are mixes of runner/pekin and runner/welsh harliquin so for someone else to come up with what appears to be the same mix is just crazy. What did TSC have them labled as? Edited to add: We also get wild mallard visiters to our pond so I can't be certain that we don't have some mallard in the mix as well...
