YO GEORGIANS! :)

Sonya, cute chicks! I know you are excited about them! And, good broody to take extras from the bator. I tried that once and the broody said no way. I've got two broodies sitting on eggs right now and an incubator full! In a week or so, the first set start to hatch, then the others! I LOVE HATCHING CHICKS!

How early can you tell a BCM roo? Wont it start showing color in its hackles at a young age? I think my two chicks are about 8 weeks old now. One BCM has just a touch more wattles than the other, but not much so that doesn't really say anything yet.

I do think I have a male Swedish Flower, a male SS, a male splash Marans and possibly one male BCM. Anyone interested?

I could tell my BCM roo really easily at that age. It was leaps/bounds ahead of the pullet at that age. Of course those are the only two I've had...

To answer your color question though, no, my roo never did show color until just before I gave him away.. Then just barely. Can't remember how old he was but he was a "teenager"..

Welcome from the Mountains!!

So I still detest having ducks brooding in the house (NASTY creatures) but I absolutely love, love, love them at the farm! They are so fun and funny.
