YO GEORGIANS! :)

looks like a black Sexlink. They can have varying amounts of black and gold, they usually just have gold on their neck and chest. But, I have seen some pictures of one's that where almost all gold. I used to hatch out solid black hens when I had a Dominique in my mottled Ancona pen.
It depends on the breed(s) used. For the black Sexlink, you need non barred (non white) makes and barred females. Most commonly a RIR over barred rock.
A red/gold Sexlink is red (buff for gold) rooster over silver hens, commonly RIR over Delaware. There is a thread with charts if you want to learn more.

The info on that link was so very interesting. I have 2 SS roosters that are 23 weeks old and I have a Delaware hen that is 11 weeks old. In the future I will try to get them together.

I love our SS roosters they are smart and protective and when they find bugs they let the girls have them. Maybe our Cinnamon is a Black Sexlink. I got her and the other 5 of this group at a feed store that had her and our Australorp in the same bin marked Black Pullets. Cinnamon was all black except for her feet that were a gray/black and the top of her head was a Cinnamon brown color. Thank you for your input and the info!

Was that the chick that came out of TCS that I got my black sexlink pullets?
@valleychicks
Yes! My other chick from the Black Pullet bin is an Australorp. I wasn't sure about her but I looked up the color for Australorp eggs and hers is exactly like the ones I saw. The two hens look nothing alike and Cinnamon lays a small almost round light pink egg.

I am going to have to try that as I am so sick of flies here!

Find the nearest mudhole where the flies are getting their moisture and sprinkle a gallon worth of activated lime powder on it (or less if its really small). If you have any septic leaks or ponds, etc., then dust them too. That works really well for driving off flies.

BEWARE POO QUESTIONS BELOW:
Has anyone noticed a change in poo since it's been so hot? My chickens aren't acting sick, but being a newbie I worry when poo looks off. Then reading about the vast levels of normal poo , on the forum thread it's hard to know if something is wrong without other symptoms.

I noticed more runny/squishy yellowish poo lately. Not foamy just caramel colored vs the standard brown. Even sometimes I will see them just squirt out clear liquid with a little poo in it. Again no other symptoms. Any thoughts from the veterans???

I use pine shavings and hay, no boards. My coops are completely dried in, and I have no fly problems. Last year the flies were terrible! I had not gotten my coops completely dry and the smell was pretty bad also. Once they were dry, the smell and the flies disappeared. I rake them out pretty often and add fresh pine shavings. Clean and dry = No Flies.

Hey any body interested in a five or six chicken coop needs a little work pm me if you are interested it wouldn't take much for it to be
Looking good

@valleychicks I have been getting small round almost pink eggs and I think it is from my SS and the tan larger ones from my black sexlink. I think.... LOL going to try and hatch a few to see what comes out!
