He's just kidding!!! He is our jokester! Congrats on your new egg! I have had chickens laying eggs for 2 1/2 years now, and I am still excited about seeing eggs in the nest! I think it is just so cool that our 'pets' give us breakfast everyday! I also sell eggs, so they are basically earning their keep! Love my chickens! And, yes, sex links do lay that early. Ha! I am still waiting on my Golden Cuckoo Marans! She is over 8 months old now! Ugh! You will love your blue and green eggs from your EEs and your Ameraucanas!

Ok, thank you for clarifying on Roboduck. I was like "ooops, I've annoyed someone!". Ha! Thanks for the kind words. My son just text me from home and told me we got another egg!! So yes..."eggciting" times around our house :) we're going to be getting some Black Copper Marans in the coming months...so I should probably have low expectations for for them, huh??

Oh also, I notice you have quite a variety and kind of assume you've added them at different times.....Any tips for adding new birds to the flock? We're getting some bantams in a few weeks - I'll keep them separate for a while...but just wondering if you have tips???

Internet communication can be so difficult! We can't hear the tone of voice or see the smile or other body language. Just assume I think that everyone is being silly or joking. If they aren't, well that is on them! :)

Woooo, the last of our family reunion groups just left! My DH and I closed the door and just collapsed! There were 60 family/cousins that came! Some stayed with us and some stayed at the Amicalola Falls State Park Lodge. But, they mostly hung out at our house! I am excited to be able to see my floors again. Between air mattresses and the grandkids shoes, games and clothes and towels, etc, I wasn't sure I would ever see them again! hahah! Loved getting to visit everyone....some were cousins I have never met before! While they were here, I hatched eggs. Ended up with 13. I had miscounted before. We put 10 babies under 1 broody and the other has 3. I am so excited that the broodies are raising them! No separation as they grow up!
Here are some photos of the reunion!

My family....my kids and their families. I am in the purple shirt.

My 5 grandchildren

The whole group! 60 in all!

My children!

I already posted this, but had to include it again. We ended up with 2 Blue/Gold Brahmas, 2 Naked Necks, 1 Black Orpington, 1 Splash Orpington, 1 BLRW, 1 Swedish Flower, 1 Buff Silkie, 3 Cuckoo Silkies and 1 black silkie.
