After being rudely awakened at 2:30 in the morning by a mouse that refused to get caught correctly in a mouse trap I am wide awake...when no one else is! That mouse had to drag the trap across the kitchen floor and make the eeriest sound before popping its one caught foot out of the bar just as I grab the trap. I sort of left out the part where I jumped up yelling no no no! when the still-half-asleep me realized there could be something WAY bigger on the trap to be making all that noise. Tiny mouse lives to steal another day. And over the last 3 days 30 chicks hatched from the 37 eggs that went into lockdown. Silver Sebrights, Spangled Russian Orloffs and Rhode Island Reds. The Ss and SROs were from my own stock and incubator fillers since I was hatching for Rhode Island Reds. Cutest chicks are the muffed and bearded puffy cheeked ROs! Nope, the all grey SS chick! Nope, the all black SS chick! But the RIR are pretty darn cute too;-) SRO chipmunk chicks win..
