YO GEORGIANS! :)

The first batch of rain went through so I went out to check on the three groups of chickens. The free rangers were soaked. They had been under my truck but with the rains swirling they still managed to get wet. The mini coop group had puddles of water in their run and the nest boxes were wet (not sure how this happened). The large group had a creek running through their run. I think we now have a moat around our home. Other than all of that, things went pretty good. Now for the second batch of rain. Oh and I found our Buckeye rooster (5 months old) in one of the nest boxes. I had to do a double take because I thought he was a hen at first sight. I got him out of course. Has anyone ever had a rooster do that before?

My roosters are always in the nests. After all, that is where all the mature hens hang out!

He usually stands out side the nest boxes in the coop waiting for the hens to show up. Tries to get them coming or going from the nest box. We have 8 roosters so this was a first time for me to see one actually sitting in the nest box. I forgot to mention that after I got him out I looked in it to make sure it um... was still clean. Not only was it clean I discovered a tiny tan/cream colored egg. So another hen is laying, unless.

Nah...

You know you live in GA when the GPS just gives up! LOL It told us to park and walk to our destination. My husband and I laughed so so hard. There was a driveway but I guess the GPS doesn't recognize it as such. That would have been a wet walk tonight too! Anyway, dropped off some eggs and glad to be helpful.

Note to self: When it seems like a hen has stopped laying when you know she is consistent, check EVERYWHERE. The egg box had been pulled away from the back of the wall and because the back of the box is open the hen had been laying them and the fell behind the laying box 2 feet to their cracked doom. So now I can worry less about a few of my girls. They are fine and all is well. I was thinking Molt was making my Maran stop laying but it isn't!
