It is advisable to not turn shipped eggs for the first few days.  It helps settle the air sacks.  Some people go ahead and put them in the heated bator but not turn them (especially if the eggs are getting too old to let sit around for another day or two).  They would let them incubate, but not turn for a day or two.

Well, I knew that but I already had a bator full and the other bator was hatching so I had no choice. I did let them sit overnight in the bator without turning, but then didn't want to keep the others not turning.

So is it just too late now? I'm beginning to think Marans aren't meant for me.

Looking at this again...How big are those pallets? And where did you get them? The pallets I find are about 4' x 4' and falling apart. Do you have anything between the slats? I wanna see more!

My only bad thoughts is I hope you don't have any predators around. A raccoon or possum could get through those openings. And so can snakes.

Who knows? You did let them set, so just go with it. You may be surprised!

Yeah I thought of that. That's why I was wondering if it had something to block the holes on the inside. I was thinking about using the pallets more like for a base for the walls. Our coop would be inside a pen with fence and 1/2" hardware cloth around it.

Or you could put the hardwear cloth on the inside of your walls. That would be great!

Awesome thanks! I was looking at it earlier and it's really dark on the neck. Maybe tomorrow once it's fully fluffed I'll be better able to tell. Weird thing is how small it is compared to the others..? Maybe it'll do okay.

We are being taken over by broody hens! Ugh! I still have the mamas taking care of the chicks that hatched on NYD, a Silkie that I hope is getting close to being over being broody, a broody game hen and today a broody BO. I only have two empty nest boxes now.
