is there such thing as a muzzle for a chick I have one week old chick that will cheep as loud as she can every time all the other chicks go to sleep. I have tried the feather duster and it does not work for this one any ideas?

One of my dark RIR chicks does that too. Will be 1 week tomorrow. I keep checking on it but nothing is wrong that I can tell. It's supposed to be a boy, with the constant loud peeping I am sure it won't be able to crow for years!! Last night it slept with me under the blanket- first time it got quiet! Put it back in the brooder when I got up this morning and I swear I heard death threats from the others;-)

Sometimes the baby chirps because they are lonely, bored, cold, hurting, hot, or deciding that it's not time for lights out. You might try finding a utube video with a clucking momma sound and your baby might quiet down. And do keep an eye out for pasty butt etc. and if you see any star gazing, please contact me as soon as you can! You might also find out that a baby has decided to be Big Momma as well. Often see that happen when I brood without a mom. Seriously ...... A few of the Mommas did end up crowing too.... LOL, but that was mainly silkies. But my mother geese were awesome mothers too, I just didn't trust them with the baby chicks . LOL. They brooded out 30+ ducks when they were only 10 days older than the geese! Others kept trying to set up residency with me like this little dude that was brought in by Hubby with some squash.... LOL.... But if the chirping is in a distress mode, and you don't see any physical reasons why, I would literally do the utube or maybe even a constant sound of some sort, like a white noise machine. In our house that would be Mr. CPAP:) Now I better get back to work cause it's going to be cold tomorrow! Gee whiz I'm not supposed to have baby bunnies, chick, ducks or goats in the house. What kinda a rule is that? Not fair!!! I just have to get them in the back room and QUIET when Home health comes to give me my infusions. I gotta get my pneumonia out of me! But the great news is that no hospital this year and last year 4 hospital stays by June 1 so Blessed to be home. Hospitals are great. I'm not that sick really not. I just have to find a way to sneak an incubator in here. Until they make a sound, I should be good right??? Y'all have a great day. Need to get another load of firewood delivered!!! Stay warm Georgia. Glad hubby is on the farm and collects eggs like 4 to 5 times an hour. I am spoiled! Have a great day.
